BAE Systems is currently hiring a Strategic Sourcing Manager to support the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business. Combat Mission Systems (CMS) is made up of Department of Defense Vehicles, Aerospace Products & Defense Group, and Weapon Systems. In this role, you will develop and implement commodity sourcing strategies based on existing and forecasted spend, demand/supply challenges, and marketplace conditions. You will work cross-functionally to integrate strategic planning, optimize resources, and implement process improvements to meet customer requirements and business objectives. You will lead, train, and develop members of the Strategic Sourcing team as well as serve as a mentor and coach to support career development.

  • This will be a Remote/Onsite Hybrid role where you will work from home and go onsite weekly/monthly.
  • The position can be based out of CMS sites: Louisville, Kentucky; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Phoenix, Arizona; Sterling Heights, Michigan; Aberdeen, South Dakota; or York, Pennsylvania.
  • This position will require up to 25% travel.
  • This role has a 9/80 schedule where you will have every other Friday off.

  • Manage multi-site Strategic Sourcing team, including direct reports
  • Lead and implement long-term strategic projects and supplier agreements
  • Drive strategic initiatives and make sourcing decisions resulting in superior cost, quality, and supplier's ability to deliver on time (capacity)
  • Engage in a high degree of collaboration and communication with commodity managers, tactical buyers, and other Integrated Supply Chain areas
  • Ensure appropriate cost or price analysis is performed to determine the reasonableness of the suppliers bid or to develop a negotiation position to ensure that all compliance documentation requirements are met
  • Manage and fully execute RFQ processes and analyze supplier bids
  • Develop and negotiate long-term agreements (LTA)
  • Manage the creation of LTA Purchase Orders (POs)
  • Responsible for compliance review and sign off
  • Develop approved suppliers for quote while collaborating with commodity teams
  • Identify second sources in order to enhance BAE Systems position
  • Enhance and strengthen supplier relationships
  • Further the development and implementation of long-term strategic projects
  • Analyze forecasted data and supplier bids
  • Provide support during internal/external audits

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Supply Chain/Procurement/Sourcing Management
  • Experience in Manufacturing/Production: machining, forging, or related environments
  • Experience in Souring/Purchasing of raw materials such as, metals, aluminum, steel, or related
  • Experience in People Management/Leadership including, leading, training, and developing staff
  • Demonstrated performance in supplier relationship management with significant scale of spend
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering supplier cost saving, execution efficiencies, and cash strategies
  • Ability to negotiate schedule, cost, and quality terms to enhance organization's position
  • Ability to support cost/price analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support negotiations
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing including with Senior Management in our Sector as well as globally
  • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers
  • Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and/or Advanced Supply Chain Planner (ASCP)

  • Graduate Degree a plus
  • Professional Certifications a plus
  • Experience in the Defense (DoD)/Government Contracting a plus
  • Experience in Weapons Systems a plus
  • Experience with FAR/FDARS, ITAR, or EAR regulations a plus
  • Experience with Schematics and Component Drawings a plus
  • Experience with Oracle or MS Project a plus
