About This Role

The PO&T Asset Leader is a member of the Asset Development & Portfolio Management (ADPM) team which provides cross-functional leadership across PO&T’s line functions for Biogen’s assets. The PO&T Asset Leader is responsible for end-to-end asset leadership including asset strategy, development, supply and life cycle management planning for both commercial and pipeline programs.

**This role can be located in Cambridge or RTP, North Carolina.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the PO&T “asset owner” with accountability for delivering a 5-year PO&T Asset Strategy, maintenance of an 18-month rolling Tactical Plan, monitoring key program risks and development of risk mitigation plans
  • Lead the cross-functional PO&T Asset Team (i.e., including representatives from each PO&T Line Function) in the development of and delivery on the PO&T Asset Strategy & Tactical Plan
  • Serve as PO&T’s representative on the Product Development and Commercialization Team (PDC) with accountability for bringing PO&T’s viewpoint to the PDC (and vice versa), as well as contributing to the Corporate Asset Strategy & Tactical Plan
  • Proactively manage conflicts with the Asset Strategy (e.g., driven by other Assets and/or Line Function priorities) in consultation with the PO&T Governance
  • Identify key patient insights to inform the Asset’s development strategy and LCM plans
  • Monitor asset-related impacts on the P&L (e.g., COGS, E&O, OPEX) and collaborate with the PO&T Line Functions to develop tactics to improve them
  • Develop business cases for keyAsset initiatives and secure management endorsement at PO&T Governance
  • Hold PO&T Line Functions accountable for providing support for the Asset in alignment with the Asset Strategy



Who You Are

You are an established leader, adept at leading inter disciplinary teams in a matrix environment. You are experienced in owning and leading Assets through clinical and commercial development. You are a passionate communicator, dedicated to end-to-end asset leadership to deliver your strategic vision to our partners and patients.

Required Skills
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with experience in both clinical and commercial projects
  • BS or equivalent with an advance degree (MS, PhD, MBA) preferred in a relevant biopharmaceutical discipline
  • Matrix leadership experience (2+ years) or matrix team membership (5+ years) in the setting of CMC teams, Program Teams, PO&T line functions, sub-teams or other cross-functional teams operating in a matrix environment
  • Experience with CMC development extending from IND to NDA/BLA, including a solid understanding of global registration processes
  • In-depth technical expertise in a relevant biopharmaceutical development discipline or in a pharmaceutical operations function
  • Strong business acumen and financial skills (i.e., business case development, budget tracking)
  • Experience in healthcare/biotech/pharmaceutical industry with a demonstrated understanding of cross-functional interdependencies (i.e., R&D, commercial, technical development, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain)
  • Excellent inter-personal and relationship development skills, including a demonstrated ability to influence without authority
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to identify critical program risks and develop mitigation plans
