IT Systems Engineering Manager

Job Description
BAE Systems in Washington DC is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to support to Strategic Systems Program (SSP). Primary responsibilities will be supervising the section providing tier 3 and higher system administration support. The section is responsible for server administration, storage area networks, group policy, and backup technologies. Candidate must have strong technical skills in system administration to include windows operating system as well as research and design architecture improvements. This must be done and completed in accordance to DoD IA requirements.
  • Plans and directs the technical execution of providing system administration support. Develops short range plans and schedules for the current technical effort. Supports development of long range plans and schedules for anticipated future work.
  • Ensures task plans, processes, work instructions and other controls are effective and compliant with defined processes
  • For work assigned to the section, track schedule, performance and other metrics as defined in Program/Project plans.
  • Provides personnel with day-to-day technical direction. Plans, directs and participates in technical activities associated with providing system engineering support.
  • Maintains responsiveness to customer requirements and maintains customer relationships. Regularly interfaces with customer representatives to support execution of current technical task(s) and planning for future activities.
  • Perform supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, counseling, and disciplining employees. Perform supervisory role in timekeeping and travel.
  • Ensures personnel are properly qualified to perform duties effectively. Identifies successors for all key technical positions. Sets technical and performance objectives with subordinates. Conducts performance appraisals. Schedules leave usage. Ensures that all personnel are informed of and adhere to all pertinent Company policies and procedures.
  • Plans and schedules own activities. Behavior meets BAE ethical standards.
  • May prepare technical studies, reports, and proposals in support of project development goals.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies in various environments including shipyards.
  • Shares responsibility for self-development with immediate supervisor.
  • Individual must be fully competent in all aspects of the disciplines required to provide system engineering support and is capable of evaluating, selecting, adapting and modifying standard techniques.
  • Must be able to meet DoD CWF requirements for IAT Level II within 6 months.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret DoD Clearance
  • Proven experience in leadership; candidate must be thoroughly familiar with IT Infrastructure, virtualization, server administration, and windows operating systems
  • Experience deploying, upgrading, and maintaining complex IT systems; ability to learn new IT technologies and methods
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high results
  • Ability to interact effectively presenting information to employees, management and customers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners/Government officials
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees
  • Experience managing storage area networks
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) along with badge access to the customer's facility and maintain a network account in good standing on the customer's network
  • Must be able to meet DoD CWF requirements for IAT Level II as specified in the DoD 8570 within 6 months

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification or equivalent
  • DISA STIG experience
  • Domain Administration experience
  • Knowledge of Citrix
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
