Category Strategist Specialty

Job Location: Denver, CO

This position is remote.

The Category Strategist will work onsite at Vistar Corporate office 2-3 days a week. Vistar is America's Premier Specialty Distributor, servicing over 12 different channels (vending, theatre, hospitality, specialty retail, etc.) from 25 distribution facilities. The Category Strategist will influence the development and implementation of category strategy & initiatives across Vistar's network, with a responsibility of supporting customers such as: Aldi, Menards, The Home Depot, and Lowe's, among others.
The Category Strategist will be an expert in the pervasive application of insights to fuel growth, largely within the use of trade funds relating to holistic investments into space, promotions, and other retailer fees. Key within the role is synthesizing business trends, competitive activity, shopper insights, and financial insights, among others, to identify opportunities within investment strategies and develop solutions to drive Hershey growth around key packtypes.

Acts as the Category Expert to ensure optimal planning, development, and execution of Strategic Business Plan across Alternate and Emerging Channels.
Collaboratively work with Category Management and Sales Leadership to uncover insights, trends, shopper behaviors and competitive activity to shape channel strategy and build action plans across all major selling initiatives to drive profitable and sustainable market share growth.
Extensive knowledge of all content and strategies at a Subject Matter Expert level. Comfortable and confident to present and field questions to customers in a live environment.
Effectively penetrate horizontally and vertically to align key stakeholders on category lead initiatives.
Utilization and application of traditional category management tools including, but not limited to: JDA (Space Management), Syndicated Data, 84.51 Dunnhumby, EYC, SOLVE, Efficient Assortment, Executive Summaries and Fair Share Analysis to ensure the execution and support of strategic business plan. Experience within Analytics Automation, Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Visualization (Alteryx / Tableau) will strongly position the applicant.

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience: This position requires previous Category Management and/or CPG Sales experience (approximately 5-7 years), advanced analytical skills, advanced understanding of consumer\shopper behavior and market research strategies, knowledge of consumer sales industry trends and complete working knowledge of the category management process.
