Associate Scientist III, Histology

About This Role

We are seeking a motivated histology associate scientist to join our expanding team. As part of the highly collaborative Research Histology Core, you will be responsible for development and validation of new immunohistohemistry assays as well as performing single-plex and multiplex staining using previously optimized protocols. The work will involve robotic instrumentation as well as manual staining techniques and will support our preclinical research and development programs. You will advise and train users on histology and immunohistochemistry-related methods and on use of the staining equipment. You will provide assistance with outsourcing of histology studies.

What You’ll Do
  • Optimize and validate new immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization assays, single-plex and multi-plex
  • Evaluate staining and contribute to interpretation of the results
  • Oversee equipment use and maintenance
  • Train other users
  • Assist with outsourcing, shipment and receipt of samples
  • Perform lab maintenance duties, including ordering reagents
  • Document protocols and sample-related information


BS degree in biomedical sciences or related discipline

2-3 years of hands-on experience with histology and immunohistochemistry-related assays in an academic, diagnostic, or industry lab

Required Skills
  • Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays, including assay development
  • Experience with automated staining systems, Leica Bond and / or Roche Ventana preferred
  • Tissue sectioning, including FFPE and fresh frozen animal tissues
  • Experience with biological sample handling and working in BSL2 lab

Preferred Skills
  • Tissue trimming, processing and embedding techniques
  • Experience with in-situ hybridization methodologies, knowledge of the RNAScope platform preferred
