Overview

  • Responsible for working and assisting in the programming, direction, and management of Enterprise Land Mobile Radio (ELMR) and Installation Spectrum Management (ISM) tasks to ensure goals are met and accomplished for the Maxwell BOS contract. May be assigned trainer role within the scope of authority.

Responsibilities

  • Performs operational inspections, diagnostic analysis, frequency programming, and preventive maintenance inspections on fixed and transportable ELMR systems. Resolves problems, installs, maintains and repairs systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for recognizing and judging the impact of repairs, changes, and adjustment to user services.
  • Develops software templates, fleet maps and channel plans to program vendor specific handheld radio, mobile units, and base station devices.
  • Manages Quality Assurance for ELMR maintenance and service contracts.
  • Manages USAF designated data base information for wireless equipment and systems, ensuring accuracy of all entries.
  • Performs research and development of new systems and equipment, and recommends changes necessary for the continued improvement of ELMR radio networks.
  • Receives reviews and coordinates using activity requests for frequency authorization to support radio, radar, and other wireless electromagnetic radiating or receiving requirements.
  • Manages USAF designated data base information for ISM. Prepares frequency actions for all temporary and permanent frequency assignments, using the DoD standards.
  • Researches and identifies transmitter and receiver specifications, emission and antenna characteristics, mode of radio wave propagation, proposed antenna location terrain characteristics, and operating bandwidth.
  • Prepares frequency action proposals, assignments, modifications, renewals, reviews and deletions, for temporary and permanent frequency requirements, using the DoD Military Communications-Electronics Board approved, Standard Frequency Action Format.
  • Reviews requirements for compliance of legal responsibilities as they apply to wireless communications services.
  • Develops technical reports on system effectiveness.
  • Draft planning documents and requests for proposals to solicit market research for communications projects; reviews, and recommends selection of vendor proposals.
  • Reviews requirements for compliance of legal responsibilities as they apply to wireless communications services.
  • Administers customer education and training program for wireless communications and frequency management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certifications: Associate's degree in an associated Information Technology discipline preferred; High School diploma required.
  • Licenses or Certifications Required:
  • Valid State driver's license.
  • Other IT Certifications are highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience: Four (4) years' experience with Information Technology relating to Enterprise Land Mobile Radio (ELMR) systems and Installation Spectrum Management (ISM). Two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of college.
  • Skills:
  • 1. Extensive knowledge of Motorola digital/P25 trunking radio programming.
  • 2. Proficient knowledge of Motorola digital/P25 trunking system.
  • 3. Basic knowledge of Installation Spectrum Management (ISM)
  • 4. General PC Skills, to include the ability to enter information via keyboard
  • 5. Excellent oral and written communication and people skills.
