The Incoming Material Inspection Lab Front Line Leader is responsible for supervising a small team of 3-5 individuals (or more). The team implements, maintains, and executes the receipt, sampling and testing of incoming materials for production in the U.S. (EX: Raw ingredients and packaging material commodities). The role is responsible for maintaining contact with the vendors who supply these materials, while tracking vendor performance, dispositioning nonconforming materials and vendor Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) for all non-conformance issues. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting, project work, proficiency testing, technician training and auditing methods, procedure reviews, vendor audits, technician performance reviews and budget planning/management. The position is also trained in all incoming testing methods and other processes and is required to support the team with direct activity as needed to support the business needs.

Based on staffing and production needs, position may require on-call support over weekends and during off-shifts.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system
  • Supervise technicians to assure timely and accurate receipt, sampling and testing of incoming materials and maintain adequate production support
  • Supervise the coordination of material holds and isolations
  • Assure completion of required training per training manual; assure new hire personnel are properly trained in procedures, test methods and safety practices
  • Direct liaison with suppliers, Global Supplier Quality Assurance (GSQA) and Regional Incoming Quality Assurance (RIQA). Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with vendors, tracking vendor performance and addressing any performance issues with the vendor and following up on vendor corrective actions.
  • Work directly with GSQA and RIQA on vendor issues
  • Prepare and coordinate corrective action program for sanitation, GMP, compliance and safety audits
  • Track destructs for raw ingredients and packaging commodities on a monthly basis
  • Assist the lab manager with the Incoming Material budget and planning the department Long Range Plan (LRP)


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING

Required:
  • A minimum of a High School GED or High School Diploma
  • 3 years or more of laboratory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office


Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Bacteriology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or other technical degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years of Supervisory experience
  • Experience with platforms like Trackwise or LIMS
  • Time management and priority management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills
