Individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge in the specific area. Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects; adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions. Carries out complex/critical fundamental or applied research in the biological or physical sciences or in mathematics requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity.

  • Well developed, advanced knowledge and skills in biological science, analytical science or food science
  • Incumbents require an understanding of a number of disciplines
  • Positions may involve the introduction and application of new developments in their field and may also require the development of new approaches to be used by other professions
  • Prepare detailed reports to support recommendations and conclusions and evaluate findings

  • Bioanalytical method development, transferring and maintenance
  • Conduct immunoassay for food allergen detection
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system
  • Understands and consistently follows documented procedures
  • Executes assigned tasks; utilizes technical and theoretical understanding of several techniques to complete assigned tasks
  • Troubleshoots instrumentation or experiments
  • Applies basic computer skills (includes word processing, spreadsheets, instrumentation-related and Abbott network systems). Produces reports and documents utilizing writing skills.
  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation
  • Recognizes and assists with the resolution of technical problems
  • May prepare and deliver presentations of project results to own or other groups
  • Shares knowledge and expertise with others in the work unit
  • Prepares and aligns goals with manager's goals
  • Interprets experimental results, draws conclusions, and recommends options for next steps
  • Plans time to accomplish tasks
  • Conducts experiments according to plan
  • Maintains appropriate documentation so that information and materials are traceable, and processes are transferable

Minimum Education/Professional Experience:
  • BS+ in biological science, analytical science, or food science
  • Experience in basic office software
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds from floor to lab bench top

  • Graduate degrees in biological science, analytical science, or food science
  • Experience in GLP or GMP environment
  • Experience in developing immunoassays
  • Experience in Bioanalytical instrument: ELISA, UV, HPLC, Mass Spec, SDS-PAGE, Immuno-Blotting, Molecular biology tools etc.
