WGL - Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist

WGL is seeking to hire a Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist, that will provide regulatory support and analysis, within Rate & Regulatory Affairs (R&RA), as it pertains to regulatory filings and issues before the District of Columbia Public Service Commission (DCPSC).

You will:

  • Responsible for providing lead regulatory support in rate cases, accelerated pipe replacement proceedings, and regulatory filings before the DCPSC
  • Review data requests and proposes assignments within business units and R&RA, reviews drafted data responses for appropriateness to question and for consistency with Company internal positions or policies
  • Work with legal department and business units to meet all regulatory reporting and compliance requirements in the District
  • Assist the Director and Manager of Rates & Regulatory Affairs in the management of DCPSC rate cases and other docketed state regulatory proceedings, on as needed basis
  • Identify regulatory risks to the Company's financial and operational interests in the District, and provides options to address
  • Conduct research of regulatory and industry issues and trends that affect the Company's financial and operational interests in the District, including but not limited to local, regional, and national climate policy


Must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years regulatory and/or utility experience with a concentration in state regulatory area
  • Must be comfortable working with Senior Management, Commission Staffs, and other stakeholders presenting and defending Company positions
  • Sound knowledge of utility ratemaking, rules, practices, and policies that govern the local gas distribution business. Specific knowledge for the District is a plus
  • Experience as, or willingness to be a witness in regulatory proceedings is a plus
