WGL Lead Public Affairs Associate

Are you a public affairs professional who is looking to make a huge impact? We are looking for a new Lead Public Affairs Associate to join our dynamic team!

You Will:

  • Represent our interests before state and local governments and key local and regional business and trade organizations.
  • Develop and execute an annual public policy strategy and public affairs program agenda for state and local legislative initiatives and supports advocacy strategies
  • Partner with business coalitions to leverage public policy outcomes
  • Develop strategies which may lead to new business opportunities
  • Network with pertinent business organizations and industry advocates to anticipate and advise on emerging public policy issues and trends
  • Act as change agent for driving legislative and public policy agenda to enhance company objectives and strategy.
  • Advise legislative stakeholders on company's interest and questions.

You Must have:

  • Bachelor's degree or related field preferred
  • 7+ years experience in state and community relations, or 10+ years in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of federal, state and local legislative processes.
  • The ability to negotiate successfully with state and community leaders to achieve desired business outcomes.
