Our location in Lake Forest, Illinois is hiring a Senior Director, Strategic Planning within our Core Diagnostics business.


The Senior Director, Strategic Planning is responsible for driving Core Diagnostics sustainability by identifying and leading new business initiatives that support the strategy. This position will be responsible for executing the business strategy, leading the new technology and company scouting process and conducting strategy reviews. The position is responsible to provide strategic input into the development and execution of plans to optimize the global commercial value of products.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Provide strategic input for commercial and operational strategies that impact cost and delivery of Diagnostic testing.
  • This includes both the expansion and enhancement of on-market products, products in development and potential agencies.
  • Identify and initiate interactions with Commercial, Operations and R&D to drive the strategy.
  • Lead the execution of key initiatives that impact the organization's strategy, operations and process.
  • Lead strategy reviews that result in the development of a comprehensive business strategy over the multi-year year horizon.
  • Provide strategic input into the Plan and LRP process.
  • Provide leadership for the scouting process for technology, potential OEMs, and acquisitions.
  • Establish a scouting process with regular management reviews.
  • Keep management aware of developments and maintain buy-in throughout the collaboration process while ensuring that coordination and communication occurs at all stages.
  • Make specific actionable recommendations to the business on strategic opportunities to maximize the product portfolio Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Identifying new initiatives that will affect the entire Core Diagnostics organization with the goal of leveraging the base business and optimizing new product pipeline to attain division financial plan. Specific recommendations based on comprehensive opportunity assessments will result in direct annual expenditures or savings of millions of dollars and can substantially affect near, mid and long-term revenue and profits .The recommendations will have direct impact on short-term and long-term division profitability.
  • This position is highly-visible and will interact with the Division President as well as other Senior Staff.
  • Position requires approximately 25% travel globally.


  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (i.e. PhD, MD and/or MBA) preferred
  • Minimum 10 years relevant business experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and management experience.
  • Executive must have a sound understanding of the market and should have analytical and extrapolative thinking and influencing skills.
  • Specifically, this executive must have broad, in depth understanding of the divisions scientific R&D and commercial operations.
