Job Description:
  • Staff Engineer - (Mid to Senior Level) - Henderson , Kentucky

Opportunity :

Our Parsons Kentucky offices are now hiring for mid-senior level Staff Engineers to perform oversight services for a large roadway and bridge construction project in Southwest Kentucky. These are casual status hires.

Scope of Duties :

Must be capable of performing a variety of materials sampling and testing services as required by the 2019 Kentucky Standard Specifications, 2014 KYTC Materials Guidance Manual, and other contract documents.

The minimum sampling frequencies set out in the Department's Materials Guidance Manual shall be met. In complying with this guidance manual, provide daily surveillance of the Contractor's Quality Control activities and perform the sampling and testing of materials and completed work items for verification and acceptance.

Determine the acceptability of all materials and completed work items on the basis of either test results or verification of a certification, certified mill analysis, DOT label, DOT stamp, etc.

Input verification testing information and data into the Site Manager and LIMS using written instructions provided by the Department.

Documentation reports on sampling and testing performed by the Consultant shall be submitted during the same week that the construction work is done.

Required to prepare a quarterly report for KYTC outlining that all required sampling and testing is current, and the status of clearing any failing materials issues.

Qualifications :

A 4 year Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least (3) years or more of related experience with road & highway projects.

Mid-level must be licensed as a (PE) professional engineer in Kentucky or must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a license in Kentucky within 6 months.

Senior level must have an additional two (2) years of experience in addition to that required for licensure. Master's Degree in the field can be credited toward experience level , for at least 1 year of experience.

Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Certifications listed below shall be held and maintained by the Staff Engineer throughout the duration of the contract:

  • ACI Level I Certification
  • Aggregate Sampling Technician
  • Grade & Drain Level I Technician
  • Asphalt Field Technician
  • Structural Inspection Level I
  • KEPSC-RI qualification
  • Work Zone Traffic Control Technician
