Postdoctoral Appointee - Materials Scientist/Chemist

We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointment with Argonne's Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR) Energy Innovation Hub. The purpose of this appointment is experimental studies to understand and develop electrolytes for multivalent (Zn, Mg, Ca) batteries, as well as to understand the surface (electro)chemistry of both anodes and cathodes operated in such systems.

This position is open immediately and is based on renewable yearly contract. Interested candidates should submit a full CV and names/contact of three references.

Position Requirements

We expect you to have:
  • Considerable experience with electrochemical methods, including cyclic voltammetry and rotating (ring) disk electrode measurements.
  • Experience with at least one of these methods is required, both is preferred:
    • Vibrational spectroscopy, in particular in situ Raman spectroscopy
    • UHV systems and surface spectroscopy (e.g., XPS, AES UPS, etc..)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ph.D. in an experimental discipline, such as chemistry, materials science or a related engineering field is required.
  • To be eligible, candidates must have completed their Ph.D. within the last three years.
