Job Description:

Looking for a Historic Preservation Specialist to assist US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) with managing and preservation of Historic Properties. A NHPA subject matter expert is needed to provide support in the developing and managing of CBP's Prehistoric and Historic portfolio.

  • Create, review and edit directives, policies and guidance documents that support the NHPA program, this includes: Programmatic Agreements; Section 106 documentation; Analysis of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation for NHPA compliance; Historic Preservation Maintenance and Monitoring Plans (HPMMPs); Annual Archeology, Federal Real Property Council and Preserve America Reports; Programmatic Agreement Annual Reports.
  • Other technical reports, documentation, guidance, and other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Interagency taskers and requests as required.
  • Assist with coordination between State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs), Advisory Councils and other appropriate consulting parties required to complete NHPA eligibility determinations and compliance under NHPA Section 110.
  • Provide coordination with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation on progress and compliance under NHPA Section 110.
  • Assist CBP with management & maintenance of information and documentation.
  • Assist CBP with the development and presentation of the DHS Annual Environmental Program Management Reviews.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science curriculum (or equivalent experience) related to the assigned discipline.
  • Typically 10+ years of related work experience, including experience as a task leader.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States federal government program and site accesses.
