HR Project Lead - New Hire Programs

Argonne National Laboratory's Human Resource Services organization is seeking a Project Lead who will be responsible for cultivating a comprehensive, consistent and inclusive orientation, onboarding and acclimation experience for laboratory new hires, implementing those plans, and then managing those processes day-to-day. As a member of the lab's Talent Acquisition organization, the scope of the role is to evolve and develop programs, resources, tools, training and networking opportunities to support new hires during their first year of employment. The goal of the program is to foster increased engagement, inclusion, community and productivity for new hires.

Key projects and responsibilities centered around the role would include:
  • Develop and execute a new and innovative approach to orientation and resources for new hires and Argonne's hiring community.
  • Design and implement orientation, acclimation and training resources and to accommodate new on-site, remote and hybrid scheduled employees.
  • Partner with Argonne's Immigration office in the development of training and tools to support foreign national employee acclimation including access to area resources and programming for English-as-second-language (ESL) training and translation resources and other social/cultural opportunities.
  • Lead the launch and continuing management of a new-hire affinity group.
  • Develop and analyze metrics to measure the new hire experience at the laboratory.
  • Develop resources to support dual-career needs for new hires.
  • Contribute expertise on various recruiting projects and employer branding projects as needed.
  • Partner with our talent acquisition coordinator to streamline hiring process tasks associated with orientation and onboarding, and provide backup support for those tasks as needed.
  • Consult with Argonne's Leadership Institute, the laboratory's DEI and Learning organization, to assure and advance learning and development and diversity, equity and inclusion concepts and programming are incorporated into the acclimation services and processes.
  • In addition, participation in other related projects, programming and administrative tasks will be required.

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience, or equivalent related work experience, is required.
  • Experience in mid to large scale corporate administrative roles with enterprise project management responsibilities that required high attention to detail, organizational skills, external communication, collaboration with multiple stakeholder teams and with exhibited ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously is required.
  • Experienced presenter with background and comfort in public speaking, training, and small and large group facilitation and seminars is required.
  • Experience in human resource based projects, or onboarding and orientation processes and systems for on-site and remote employees, is highly preferred.
