PGIM Private Capital | Investment Analyst, Corporate and Project Workouts

Job Classification:
Investment Management - Investments

PGIM is the diversified asset management business of Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU). With $1.4 trillion in assets under management, and 38 offices spanning 16 countries, PGIM is among the world’s top-10 largest asset managers. Comprised of seven self-governing asset management divisions, each PGIM business offers a distinct workplace culture that aligns with the firm’s ultimate objective: to provide premier service to our clients while fostering an inclusive workplace culture that is rooted in trust, respect and equality.

Our Business:

At PGIM Private Capital ("PPC"), expertise, analysis, and experience drive everything we do. We strategically target select global markets to offer unique deal flow to investors and prospective issuers. Our team is comprised of bright, focused professionals who collaborate at all levels to manage originations and a private debt portfolio across investment grade, high yield and mezzanine investments. We invest in the potential of our employees by offering them large-scope, small-team emphasis on collaboration. We challenge you as an individual so you can make real contributions while you grow your capabilities.

Our Role:

We are seeking a full time Investment Analyst to join the Corporate & Projects Workouts ("CPW") team in Chicago. CPW is PPC’s dedicated restructuring team, managing over $1.0bn in assets that were originally underwritten by regional deal teams, but are now experiencing financial stress. The team works closely with borrowers, other lenders, and external advisors to maximize economic recoveries and support companies as they work through existing challenges. The team also underwrites protective investments if required, opportunistically purchases distressed securities in the secondary market, and provides consultation services to the regional offices.

As an Investment Analyst, you will work on a small deal team responsible for conducting financial analysis, executing complex restructurings, negotiating amendments, performing portfolio monitoring and underwrite distressed investments. In CPW, no two deals are alike. You will gain exposure to a wide range of companies, sectors, and unique situations, and your input and responsibilities will be meaningful from day one.

Your Impact:
  • Assess business and financial strategy for portfolio companies
  • Carry out financial analysis and modelling, including manual valuations
  • Complete written memos for internal approval and monitoring purposes
  • Coordinate with external parties effectively, whether senior management teams of portfolio companies, external lawyers or financial advisors
  • Review supporting information and analysis for live restructurings
  • Ongoing monitoring requirements for portfolio companies

Your Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of science degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or other quantitative subjects
  • Excellent analytical and accounting skills
  • Strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with the capital markets
  • A self-starter with the ability to manage multiple work streams and prioritize effectively, often under time pressure
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility – our team is split across three times zones so a willingness to manage this is essential

Your Desired Skills:
  • 0 to 1 year of experience in finance, restructuring, private credit underwriting, investment banking, commercial banking, or asset management. Direct restructuring experience beneficial, but not required.
  • Participation in the Chartered Financial Analysts® (CFA) program is a plus

Our Culture:

Prudential is focused on creating a fully inclusive culture, where all employees feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work. We don’t just accept difference·we celebrate it, support it, and thrive on it. At Prudential employees have a unique opportunity to build their career path by owning their development, their career and their future. We encourage employees to utilize the internal "Skills Accelerator" to hone their skills and explore the opportunities available to them within Prudential.
