Computational Scientist

Argonne National Laboratory has an exciting opportunity for a Computational Scientist in our Data, Science, and Learning division! This Computational Scientist is responsible for assisting in the creation, implementation and validation of machine learning methods for designing molecular materials on leadership-class computing systems. Principal effort includes the identification of appropriate AI methods in collaboration with materials science domain experts, development of required AI techniques, and integrating AI tools with workflow systems for materials design.

Position Requirements

  • Understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning methods and their application in the physical sciences.
  • Expertise in high-performance

RD2: Bachelor's degree + 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree + 3 years of experience, or a PhD, or equivalent

  • PhD in Computer Science, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering, with significant experience in application of computational techniques to problems in science.
