Supervisor of Investigator Support

Job Overview:

Labcorp Drug Development is seeking a Supervisor of Investigator Support to support our central labs. This position is 100% REMOTE.

Job Repsonsibilites include:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of what Investigator Support offers to Clients and Investigator Sites
  • Provide strategic, methodological, and conceptual approaches to projects according to CLS best practice
  • Bring expertise in value communication to each project - regardless of the deliverable, the Investigator Support/CLS approach to value communication is applied, informing advice given to clients and investigator sites, and forming the basis of internal feedback
  • Critically review work of more junior staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Workload/Capacity Management: Responsible for planning and forecasting day-to-day and future workload resource demands in Investigator Support to maximize efficiency and to ensure site and patient needs are met.
  • Reviews daily and future workload requirements to determine daily resource needs
  • Creates and maintains longer-term workload/capacity forecasting models
  • Negotiates with other IS Supervisors to identify and make available resources as needed.
  • Monitors overall work activity and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Ensures that normal and overtime costs are in alignment with stated goals.
  • Assist and support management in the development and implementation of strategy, global processes and procedures, and performance metric
  • Support and participate in the Investigator Support Services' tasks related to strategy, planning, budgeting and cross department issues.
  • Work with global counterparts to ensure new processes are developed with global participation and implementation.
  • Ensure performance metrics are global. Track, monitor, and report metrics in the agreed upon timelines.
  • Instills a culture of continuous improvement, quality, productivity and profitability.
  • Provide guidance through mentoring and coaching of individual contributors and supervisors to improve skills related to people management, operation strategy, and issue resolution
  • Represents IS during client and internal audits provides guidance to team regarding the data and message given during an audit

  • Manages and supervises staff including but not limited to:
  • Day-to-day Management:
  • Coordinating and monitoring progress to ensure achievement of timelines and goals.
  • Day-to-day supervision of individual team members.
  • Performance management:
  • Completing thorough, timely and well-documented performance evaluations and interim progress reviews.
  • Establishing and monitoring performance objectives for direct reports, communicating performance issues to management, and taking corrective action where appropriate.
  • Team management and Diversity management:
  • Leverage diversity to achieve departmental goals.
  • Create a Team atmosphere with the people under his/her supervision and a team motivation/accountability to provide the best services to customers
  • Career development:
  • Mentoring of Junior management staff
  • Works with each direct report in the development of career paths. Helps to identify job growth opportunities and advancement options.
  • Ensuring the development of a competent workforce to meet growth plans within budget.
  • Ensuring the seamless integration of all Investigator Support Services functions globally.
  • Accountable for the activities and outcome of the team, taking corrective action where appropriate.
  • Ensure the consistent implementation, use and review of SOPs.
  • Monitor, track, manage and ensure resolution of all customer complaints, issues

  • and concerns.
  • Ensures all services failures are identified, tracked and resolved in a timely manner. Take preventative action to ensure that the same service failure(s) does not occur again.
  • Effective and timely adherence to management communications, meetings and procedures.
  • Accountable for the effective management of the team budget and achieves budgeted targets
  • Act as a liaison for the investigator sites.
  • Instills a culture where patient safety is top priority
  • Promptly address patient safety issues and escalate as needed for resolution.
  • Ensure the investigator's needs are explored prior to implementation of new processes and procedures.

    Bachelors Degree


    At least 1 year of team management experience or >2 years as a team lead.
