We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join Mass Spectrometry Group in Discovery Biologics Department in South San Francisco, CA as a full-time intern student. The intern student will work on the development of novel native chromatographic techniques for biologics characterizations. The position requires candidates being passionate and willing to develop analytical methods.

The intern student will be hands-on at the bench and work closely with the scientists in Mass Spectrometry Group.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop novel analytical method based on native MS.
  • Investigate novel MS friendly ion pairing reagent for improved biological characterization
  • Analyze data, generate report and present results.
  • Be compliant with safety, regulatory and electronic notebook rules.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Candidates must be currently pursuing a B.S., Ph.D. or M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to (12) consecutive weeks beginning in May or June.
  • Experience in protein/antibody characterization or proteomics using mass spectrometry.
  • Strong analytical capability and problem-solving ability.
  • Must be highly organized and have good communication and written skills.


Preferred Experience and Ski lls:
  • Candidates should have experienced with biologics separation or native MS is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates should have a good understanding of separation mechanism of various columns for biologics analysis (SEC, RPLC, etc.)
  • Candidates should have a good understanding of various analytical methods for protein characterization such as native SCX-MS, SEC, CE-SDS, HIC, RP-HPLC.
  • Candidates should have hands-on experience with high-resolution Orbitrap type instruments like Fusion/Lumos/ Eclipse, Q-Exactive mass spectrometers platforms with various fragmentation techniques (ETD/ECD, HCD/CID, EThcD, UVPD, etc.)
