Material Coordinator (Container Repair)

Overview

Under the supervision of the Container Repair Supervisor, the Material Coordinator procures, receives, picks-up, stores, inventories and distributes materials required for the maintenance of equipment; they are capable of moving and loading or unloading equipment, materials, and products; operating or tending equipment used to transfer material; driving forklifts and related material-handling machinery and equipment.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
  • Coordinates and expedites the flow of materials, parts, components and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities.
  • Performs day-to-day routine tasks, in accordance with established guidelines, and receives specific guidance from a supervisor or other official for handling of unusual non-routine problems.
  • Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records.
  • Examines materials delivered to verify if material that was delivered was the type specified and checks for damaged goods.
  • Determines the amount of material needed for specific jobs, applying knowledge of logistics support processes.
  • Ensures that material is appropriately identified and keeps records of goods received.
  • Uses computerized systems to compile reports of quantity and type of material on hand.
  • Compiles a daily report of various types of containers shipped, received, and on hand.
  • Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

Working Environment:
  • Functions in an office and shop environment in a stationary position approximately 50 percent of the time or more.
  • Some work will be performed in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and are required to wear personal protective equipment in this environment.
  • A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days per week).
  • Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling loads up to 50 pounds.
  • Operates a GSA vehicle as required in, on, and around the local area.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient knowledge of standardized maintenance regulations; specifically, DA Pam 750-8, Functional User's Manual for The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS).
  • Must have a working knowledge and operational experience with the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) and LIW (logistic Information Warehouse).
  • Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), SharePoint, and basic Adobe products is required.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine and printer.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle essential tasks as assigned.
  • Must have a valid State Driver's License without restrictions.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a forklift operator's license.

Security Clearance:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a standard NACI background investigation.
  • Must have or able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

Experience:
  • Three (3) years experience or equivalent working in an material supply field.
  • GCSS-Army experience is required.
  • Possess basic math, typing/keyboarding, and customer service skills.

Skills:
  • Capable of completing day-to-day routine tasks, in accordance with established guidelines, and receives specific guidance from a supervisor or other official for handling of unusual non-routine problems.
  • Ability to work with the team lead to move parts to the areas of repair.
  • Ability to determines the amount of material needed for specific jobs, applying knowledge of logistics support requirements and processes.
  • Capable of work directly with the local purchase section to ensure to procure and receive required materials.
  • Ability to verify materials delivered are the parts specified and checks for damaged goods.
