About This Role:

Having a state-of-the-art facility in biologic manufacturing processes, talented technicians are extremely valuable to our site being responsible to keep theequipment and systems up and running for our site.

As aMaintenance Mechanic II, Utilities Operationsposition you work at Biogen’s Drug Substance Facility and are responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of the main plant utility cub, all GMP water/steam systems andutility equipmentlocated throughout the campus.

In this role you will be responsible for operating thePlant Utilitysystems and therefore you need to respond to all alarms and takedaily log readings on variousutility systems.

Applicants will become trained and skilled in all unit operations such as clean and blackutilities, often leading the execution of procedures, and performs most functions with minimal supervision.

Note that you work12-hour shift, day-andnight shiftandweekendwork is required.

WhatYou’llDo
  • Operates plant utilities; medium pressure boilers, chillers, glycol system, air compressors, USP water system, water softeners, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, biowaste inactivation, waste neutralization, Water for Injection (WFI) stills, clean steam generators and compressed air, oxygen, nitrogen, argon and CO2 gas delivery systems.
  • Provides troubleshooting expertise on problem utility equipment and serves as system expert for the utility systems under guidance of another Utility Operator having more experience.
  • Monitors utility systems through the building management system (BMS)and DeltaV control systems.
  • Logs readings on various plant equipment systems and investigates when alarms occurs
  • Conducts tours through the mechanical spaces to ensure no adverse events have occurred
  • Maintains utility systems and responds to critical alarms, Documents work in Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), supports manufacturing

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Have ahigh school diploma or equivalent, with min. 2years of relevant experience in biotech, pharma, med tech,chemical, nuclear or equivalent industries where you worked in a regulatory environment with utilities (chillers, boilers,...)
  • Capable to work a 12-hour shift, both day- and night shift and weekend work
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for up to 3 hours at a time is required.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of utilities systems and equipment pumps, tanks, valves, chillers, boilers, steam generators,...
  • Knowledge of CMMS, Delta V, BMS or other relatable systems
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; quickly understands the needs based on the situation at hand
  • Influencing and leading a positive attitude throughout team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of the organization
