Head of Global Trade & Receivables Finance (GTRF), US & Canada

Global Trade & Receivables Finance (GTRF) is a key business within CMB. The job-holder is accountable for the development, management and growth in profitability of HSBC's GTRF business (encompassing Core Trade, Supply Chain Business, and Commodity and Structured Trade Finance (CSTF).

The jobholder is responsible for leading the GTRF team and providing both strategic and day-to-day guidance to meet customer needs and provide a superior customer experience to be delivered by professionally trained people and market leading products and services.

S/he is responsible for driving growth and revenue for GTRF globally and for meeting or exceeding key financial metrics as set out in the Annual / Rolling Operating Plan (AOP / ROP) and as a principle to ensure that revenues and PBT are maximized; costs, operational losses and risks are minimized; key ratios are improved (ROE / RORWA)

S/he will also promote coordination, co-operation and joined-up behaviour between GTRF and the rest of CMB and GBM, and work at an international level with other CMB ExCo members to deliver a seamless service to clients and enhance the global proposition.

S/he will participate in the relevant executive committees, be a representative of the Bank in the community, bring value to the development of HSBC globally and be seen as a role model within CMB, and HSBC as a whole.


  • Minimum of fifteen years proven and progressive business development, sales management, and credit experience or equivalent
  • Strong domain knowledge and experience in Trade Finance
  • Managed a P&L of a business segment/area / country
  • People management experience, including managing team managers
  • Strong organisational, analytical, negotiation, communication, teamwork and influencing skills
  • Extensive knowledge and proven sales success with the Bank's products and services, or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in business, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of local operating markets and their corresponding span(s) of control within assigned country
  • Experience of driving strategic change in a matrix environment
  • Extensive product knowledge of Commercial Banking
