  • Civil Roadway Engineer II - Transportation Infrastructure - Orlando, Florida

Opportunity :

Our Parsons Orlando , Florida office has an immediate opening for an experienced Civil Roadway & Highway Engineer II . This role is for supporting design engineering of various FloridaDOT state highway projects, and involves 3D modeling experience.

The selected Engineer will have road and highway design and engineering experience with interstate roadway projects. Project design experience with the state DOT projects in this region is highly desirable. Experience and a strong understanding of various State DOT policies, procedures and guidelines is also a plus. This is an office based position in our Orlando offices. Responsibilities :
  • The selected Engineer must also have strong communication skills, and sound experience supporting state DOT road & highway projects
  • This hire may manage a subtask of a smaller project or study in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for the technical excellence of the engineering functions of the project including coordination of technical disciplines and development of project alternatives, and preliminary and final design.
  • Design horizontal and vertical roadway alignments, and super elevation diagrams, utilizing Microstation Inroads and Open Roads.
  • Experience with 3D modeling for road & highway projects is essential
  • Perform quantity calculations project estimates.
  • Providing support and guidance to more junior Engineers in completing project deliverables.
  • Develop details to construction, detour, signing and marking, as well as erosion control drawings.
  • Coordinate with project team and interdisciplinary technical personnel.
  • Assists the project manager in completing the project deliverables.
  • Ensures project is adhering to client criteria and scope.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management.
  • Assist in obtaining, analyzing, and circulating technical and contractual information to project disciplines.
  • May be responsible for the scope development, scope management and commercial performance of projects to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Assist functional managers to identify company resources, through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
  • Assists in identifying new project pursuits, gathers intelligence regarding these pursuits, participates in Parsons' pursuit process, and may lead response to client requests for proposals/qualifications.

Requirements :
  • A 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 5 years or more of related work experience is required. Professional Engineer ( PE) is preferred, EIT is required.
  • Roadway & Highway design experience. Geometric design is required.
  • Florida DOT experience is desirable, but not required.
  • 3D Modeling experience is essential
  • Microstation/Inroads/ is required. Open Roads experience is highly desirable.
