POSITION OVERVIEW:

Parsons is seeking an experienced leader to drive the environmental, social and governance (ESG) program across the company. In this role, you will define and lead the ESG strategy, work with the ESG investment community, drive ESG communications by promoting relevant projects, ensure compliance to laws and regulations, develop, and oversee ESG policies and procedures as well as partner across the company to drive meaningful business and societal impact. The ESG VP will serve as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team, and serve as the thought leader for ESG branding, initiatives, performance, and execution. This leader will provide strategic guidance, innovative thinking, business management, operational support and structure, as well as leadership of, or engagement in, strategic ESG projects and initiatives, in a fast-paced environment with a rapidly evolving set of expectations from all stakeholder groups.

This position is responsible for directing and overseeing activities related to ESG including development, implementation, and ongoing administration of ESG programs. This role will work collaboratively with internal departments such as Investor Relations, Environmental, Human Resources, Communications, Safety, and Operations to formalize and maintain a highly effective, meaningful ESG program leveraging leading-edge practices and trends.

Our Centreville, VA Headquarters is the ideal location for this position, but for the right candidate a telecommute option is available.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy
  • Produce a companywide ESG strategy and program that encompasses all ESG elements (e.g., environmental impact, sustainability, corporate governance, community outreach, employee welfare and reward and supply chain management).
  • Be an industry thought leader for ESG both internal and external across key Parsons markets.
  • Decide upon the appropriate ESG framework(s) to build our strategy.

Regulatory
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the ESG management system implementation across the company.
  • Update ESG policies and procedures in line with changes in laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the global HR teams on the requirements of identifying and implementing local ESG laws and regulations and monitor the compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with ESG disclosures.

Investor Relations
  • Promote our ESG initiatives in partnership with investor relations to the ESG community

Communications
  • Support the management team in driving the education, communication, and implementation of the ESG management system across the company.
  • Plan and execute ESG awareness and outreach events.

Performance Execution
  • Working with the executive leadership team, establish internal and externally reported ESG goals
  • Establish and manage the ESG budget.
  • Establish objectives and milestones to achieve short and long-term goals, embedding our strategy within the functional areas as an integrated part of how we work effectively complete all ESG reporting including the development of the annual social responsibility report, working across key functions to develop content.
  • Leverage enterprise dashboards and reporting to track performance for review during Monthly Management Reviews and assign key subject matter experts and data owners for which the ESG/Social Responsibility leadership relies on for input.
  • Leadership of company-wide measurement, monitoring, reporting, and reduction of environmental impacts
  • Create an ESG risk assessment matrix and mitigation plan.

ESG Rating
  • Manage relationships with key ESG rating firms and lead the process for key ESG surveys
  • Assess how and where Parsons should obtain ESG ratings.

Responsible for solid network collaboration with key business functions to influence the business to drive improving metrics across ESG measures, as well as leading reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Keep abreast of best practices, industry benchmarks, and regulations related to ESG and reporting.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • 4-year degree in related field and 15+ years of broad and diversified experience.
  • Professional experience as an ESG or social responsibility leader at a publicly traded company, with experience driving global ESG integration and reporting, and initiatives that tie to strategic business objectives.
  • ISS / Glass Lewis knowledge.
  • Financial, risk management, and/or investor engagement experience working with key stakeholders and ESG rating firms.
  • Practical and innovative leader with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and results.
  • Deep knowledge of environmental and ESG practices and trends. Experience with relevant standards and frameworks.
  • Excellent understanding of social, economic, and environmental sustainability impact of business operations.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Creative thinker with a strong interest in executing new strategies to drive increasing value to our customers, partners, suppliers, shareholders, and employees. Exceptional presentation skills with experience working at both executive and board levels. Possess executive presence and interpersonal skills that enable you to build relationships internally and externally. Proven public speaking experience including engagements at conferences.
