Scientist - Induced Proximity Platform

Amgen's Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) is seeking a collaborative Scientist to join our Targeted Protein Degradation group in Thousand Oaks, California. The IPP is charged with developing Amgen's newest drug modality aimed at Targeted Protein Degradation, including discovery of PROTACs and molecular GLUEs. The IPP is seeking a creative, emerging scientific leader to discover and develop novel therapies for cancer and other therapeutic areas.

The Scientist's primary responsibilities will be developing platforms and modalities to impact challenging targets across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology and immuno-oncology.The IPP takes innovative, cross-discipline approaches, including targeted protein degradation, to tackle the toughest targets.

The successful candidate will lead a project to support discovery and development of novel therapeutic modalities based on Targeted Protein Degradation, including prospective discovery of small molecule molecular GLUEs.The candidate will set project goals and timelines, design, perform and analyze experiments, interact with team members across different departments and research sites, and communicate and present data to department leadership. The candidate will also inform departmental goals and strategy and will represent the department in various cross-functional activities including academic collaborations, external research evaluations, project teams, and scientific committees.The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the scientific community through conference presentations and impactful publications.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree


Master's degree and 4years ofrelevant scientific experience


Bachelor's degree and 6years ofrelevant scientificexperience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad knowledge of cancer and cellular biology with demonstrated independent research eminencethrough first author publications in top journals
  • Specific expertise and a record of publicationin the biology andbiochemistry of post-translational modifications, preferably ubiquitination.
  • Research experience with biochemical, biophysical, molecular and cellular techniques, including enzyme and cell assay development, characterization of protein modification and turnover, and mechanistic studies of enzymes
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines
