Job Description

Our IT team operates as a business partner proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities. We collaborate internationally to deliver the services and solutions that help everyone to be more productive and enable innovation.

Our Company's Research Labs Cloud group is part of the Discovery, Pre-Clinical, Early Development IT department responsible for the development, delivery and support of scientific computing solutions used by our Company's drug discovery and development scientists.

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer that is passionate about collaborating across the interface between IT engineering and scientific discovery.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams (HPC, Software Engineering, Cloud platform, ..) to deliver best fit solution, primarily in AWS.
  • Very strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills are required.
  • Must be passionate about science and engineering, as well as excited to learn new things.
  • Comply with applicable company policies and procedures.


Education Minimum Requirement:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a scientific, or engineering discipline preferred but not required.


Required Experience and Skills:
  • A minimum of 3 years deployment experience in AWS with Cloud Formation or some other automation tool (ex. Terraform).
  • A minimum of 5 years advanced experience in Linux OS platform administration with fluency in at least 1 scripting language such as Python.
  • Experience with Batch, Nextflow, FSx, ECS, Fargate and other AWS Services.
  • Troubleshooting skills in the enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate technical and non-technical information verbally and in writing.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment of IT professionals & Research Scientists.


Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Experience with development and deployment of containerized applications.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience with using automated config/build and deployment technologies such as Ansible & Foreman or some other automation toolset (Puppet, Chef, CloudFormation) with CI/CD experience.
  • Experience with version control tools (GIT, Subversion) Bitbucket experience.
  • Hands on experience with Jenkins.
  • Hands on experience with Docker or Singularity.
  • Experience with RHEL 6/7 and/or CentOS 6/7.
  • Familiarity or experience in the life sciences (e.g. infectious diseases, immuno-oncology, neuroscience).
