Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $500 sign-on bonus to entry-level CHIPPERnew hires. Job seekers who apply after August 16, 2021 until December 31, 2021 are eligible for the sign-on bonus. The sign-on bonus is for external new hires. Current Newport News Shipbuilding employees are ineligible for the sign-on bonus.

The successful candidate must be able to grind all casting shapes, contours and defects using all grinder types including surface grinder. Casting surfaces must be prepared for various inspection levels RT, VT, MT, PT and VT. The individual will be expected to upgrade casting surfaces to meet quality requirements within targeted hours.

Basic Qualifications

Ability to work in extreme temperature environment. Ability to work at extreme heights or in very confined spaces. Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb on a daily basis. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs
