Job Description

New hires based in the US & Puerto Rico will be required to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption or accommodation to this vaccination requirement, subject to applicable law.

Our Research Scientists are our Inventors. We identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that could be inhibited or enhanced. Our goal is to isolate a compound that is effective against a disease target. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities and robust scientific methodology we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will be able to design cell-based experiments to validate novel targets, target molecules, and new chemical biology assays
  • Design, synthesize, purify and characterize peptides and small molecules drug candidates and/or chemical probes
  • Selection and application of appropriate purification techniques including high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and acquisition/interpretation of analytical data such as LC/MS
  • Become part of a creative and flexible team; collaborate and work closely with other scientists. Contribute to experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of experiments
  • Collaborate with variety of teams to execute on chemical biology-based platform builds
  • Function and communicate effectively in a highly productive multi-disciplinary environment
  • Act as a leader in the laboratory, executing onprogram and chemistrystrategy


Education
  • Master degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, biomedical engineering or a related field with two plus years of industrial and/or academic research experience, or a B.S. or equivalent degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field, with five plus years of industrial and/or academic research experience.


Experience and Skills

Required
  • Good understanding of chemical biological concepts, peptide synthesis and a background in cell-based assay development
  • Experience in synthesis, purification, and working knowledge of analytical purification and characterization of peptides and small molecules
  • Highly self-motivated applicant who can work in a highly collaborative environment as well as independently leading research projects with the willingness to learn new science
  • Excellent attention to detail, principled and strong verbal and written communications
  • Strategic and strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills in a team environment


Preferred
  • Background in cell biology/pharmacology, chemical biology, Peptide synthesis, biomedical engineering or experience in mammalian cell culture
