Department Overview

The DCM group consists of TD Securities' global debt advisory, underwriting, private placement, and liability management businesses. DCM advises corporate clients across sectors on optimizing their capital structures, raising funds in the global debt capital markets, acquisition financing, and managing existing liabilities. DCM works alongside TD's Transaction Banking, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Debt Syndicate, Market Risk Solutions, Research and Sales & Trading teams to deliver best in class advice for our clients.

Job Description

The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) within the Debt Capital Markets team at TD Securities is hiring for an Associate position on the US Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets Corporation Origination team in New York. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing team with high internal visibility at the senior executive level within both TD Securities and more broadly the TD Bank Group. The position will provide an opportunity to gain transaction experience and a high level of responsibility in a fast paced and dynamic trading floor environment.

Job Requirements

• Works alongside and supports FIG Debt Capital Markets Origination Officers in pitching and covering TD's clients globally, as well as identifying funding and capital needs and strategic opportunities across global debt capital markets
• Responsible for putting together weekly new issue pricing, presentations for meetings, and maintaining deal databases
• Establish deep knowledge base of the global bond markets, identifying trends and originating unique ideas (acquisition financing, liability management, structured transactions, etc.)
• Play integral role in the deal cycle from beginning to end including taking ownership of pitches, deal documentation, sales memos, marketing, due diligence, execution, pricing, and settlement
• Responsible for coordinating with various groups within TD: Syndicate, Sales and Trading, Research, Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, Market Risk Solutions, Global DCM teams, Equity Capital Markets, Loan Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, etc.
• Establish deep understanding of TD's capabilities across various products and geographies and how they can benefit TD's client base
• Interacting with TD's DCM clients-keeping clients apprised of market trends, new issuance and headlines
• Review a broad range of financial reports and identify impact to our client base: company filings, regulatory filings, credit research, rating agencies, recent earnings, equity reports, strategy, economic, etc.
• Develop a strong fundamental understanding of the areas of focus for DCM clients including: plain vanilla debt financings, subordinated capital raisings (including hybrid / preferred stock issuances), global financial regulatory frameworks, acquisition financings, liability management, ESG financings, global financing opportunities (AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP), LIBOR reform/transition across global markets, etc.
• You will understand and comply with TD Securities (USA) Policies, regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring that transactions are fully documented and processed accurately and in a timely manner
• Your position possesses specialized and expert knowledge of market data, economic information and key industry developments as well as regulatory standards at all times to assist in maximizing profitability through sound business decisions. Position develops and maintains contacts with market participants and supports syndicate operating in supplying market information to partners within the TD global DCM group
• You are required to demonstrate governance, control and risk management behaviours in alignment with TD policies and practices


• Preference for candidates with Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses. Those who do not have those qualifications will be required to obtain them
• Associate: 3-5 years of investment banking experience, ideally within Investment Grade DCM (preferably with a focus on Financial Institutions) or Investment Banking
