Department OverviewThe Product Management team has end-to-end ownership of the MOTOTRBO product portfolio and manages individual products in the portfolio through their lifecycle, starting from definition, planning, delivery, continuity and all the way to sunset/cancelation.

This includes defining the overall product requirements, value proposition, KPIs, metrics, business case as well as the role of the new product or feature within the portfolio.
The team is also responsible for analyzing and monitoring the performance of the portfolio with quarterly and annual reviews and providing recommendations/actions based on their analysis.

In achieving these goals, the MOTOTRBO product management team will work with global cross-functional teams from engineering, supply chain, service, marketing, sales, vendors, partners and product management teams for different portfolios within the corporation.
Job DescriptionA product manager will be doing some or all of the followingDevelop new products and featuresDefining the ‘why’, ‘what,’ ‘where’, and ‘when’ of the product or feature that the development team will build. Be the owner of your product, leading cross-functional teams from a product's conception through to its launch,

Do this by
  • Analyzing market and competitive environment. then lay out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on customer demands.
  • Plan and execute Voice of Customer/Partners/Sales to obtain feedback on market needs and what features add value to the product and portfolio.
  • Develop the Business Case and Forecast for the product, including financial analysis to determine whether the project makes business sense.
  • Define the product requirements and work with Engineering, Sales and other stakeholders through the product definition and development process.
  • Plan and conduct Customer Touch Points, Alphas and Betas with customers to obtain feedback and validation throughout the development process.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Training teams to develop the go to market strategy, ordering mechanism as well as marketing and training materials.
  • Support Sales with launch, promotion and other activities.
  • Define with the Service team the product's support, repair and service strategy.

Managing the portfolio
  • Regular analysis of the portfolio's performance. Identify trends and propose actions to maximize revenue and minimize costs.
  • Manage forecast and product continuity. Plan for cancelation as required.
  • Make tiering and positioning decisions for the portfolio as new products and features are introduced.
  • Keep up to date with new developments via Competitive Intelligence, Market Trends and deep understanding of the Customers and Verticals that the portfolio is serving.
  • Identify new products, features and opportunities based on changes in the markets and technical innovations.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and champion and drive initiatives to improve efficiency.

Additional Qualified Skills

  • Technical Competency - Understand engineering concepts and how to best extract value from the technology at hand. Provide guidance or direction to Engineering when tradeoffs have to be made.
  • Communication - Able to concisely and clearly communicate product ideas and definitions to the team as well as management. Skilled at eliciting requirements, use cases and problem statements from customers, partners and sales. Identify where the biggest problem and highest value are.
  • Leadership - provide direction to the team, resolve conflicts when necessary, step in where needed and escalated as required. Make the tough calls and decisions.
  • Finance - Understanding of basic business financial concepts, Profit/Loss statement, Margins.
  • End in Mind thinking and End to End sense of responsibility.
  • Independent and able to hit the ground running with minor supervision but wise and not shy to raise hand when required.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA or other graduate degree.
  • 5 + years relevant experience in Engineering or Product Planning/Product Marketing/Product Management/Sales/Field Support in a relevant industry.
