Process Development Engineer

Work with the DLP MEMS Development Team responsible for the development, characterization, and optimization of MEMS devices to meet the requirements for volume production. A key aspect in design optimization of our products and systems is the selection of materials that best meets the design needs, ensuring maximum performance and minimum costs.
The ideal candidate will be a technical leader in the area of materials processing to insure robustness, reliability, and manufacturability meeting all device performance targets. Successful candidates will have lab and research experience, with a focus on semiconductor materials.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop material/processes and integrating into high volume production.
- Provide expert guidance on selection of materials for new or existing DLP® products that improve performance, reliability, or cost.
- Analyze product issues and failure data to better understand the causes of problems and come up with better and more innovative solutions.
- liaising with suppliers, internal customers, and manufacturing teams.
- Competent research capabilities to develop new materials. Ability to gather information, design experiments, collect data and assess findings.
- Conduct tests on raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Drive process and device improvements through characterization, test, design of experiments, data analysis and simulation
- Work with multiple process, integration, reliability, packaging and test engineers to achieve these goals.
- Potential for domestic and international travel to manufacturing sites, vendors, and laboratories.
The person performing this role must be capable to plan effectively, drive schedules, meet critical deadlines on multiple tasks in parallel, lead technical discussions in their area of expertise, and work effectively across organizational boundaries. They must be able to clearly communicate project status and actions. Additionally, they must be able to interface with multiple organizations and work well on a diverse team to accomplish goals.
Minimum requirements:
- Masters/PHD in EE/ChE/Material Science/Physics/Chemistry or related degree with minimum 2 years of lab/research experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Background in organic chemistry is a plus.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions.
- Ability to take the initiative and drive for results.
- Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes.
- Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery.
