Description of Core Component and Circuit Design Engineer:

Work requires the creation and management of component specifications as well as ownership in core circuit design. Candidate will have the ability for detailed circuit design analysis combined with real world implementation and a detailed knowledge of the components in the circuit. The ideal candidate will have experience with a wide range of automotive electrical components and ability to make detailed comparisons at the datasheet level.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand component datasheets and create component specifications.
  • Maintain master approved parts list.
  • Interface with component suppliers to coordinate meetings and confirm component specifications.
  • Design, develop, and create schematic for core circuits for embedded electronics applications.
  • Support application circuit design engineering team and development applications including root cause analysis
  • Develop and maintain design, analysis, test plan and test result documentation.
  • Verify functionality and robustness of core electrical circuit
  • Create and maintain core guidelines for circuit layout team
  • Work with other groups to coordinate implementation activities.
  • Participate in electrical design reviews.
  • Participate in DFMEA reviews and create circuit level DFMEA based on core circuits.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor – Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of electronic circuits and components
  • Knowledge of microcontrollers, power supply circuits, and inverter circuits
  • 3+ years of experience with circuit design and component management
  • Experience using schematic-capture and worst-case circuit analysis/simulation tools.
  • Proficient in both analytical skills and hands-on work
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience working with customers or suppliers
  • Stay in touch with the latest component technologies

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Electromagnetic Compatibility issues associated with board layout and circuit design.
  • Experience with thermal constraints of circuit design and fundamentals of heat transfer
  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing technologies (at the board and component level)
  • Familiarity with microcontroller design for embedded application and with power electronics (power supplies, inverters)
  • Experience with product failure risk management tools (e.g, DFMEA).
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics, Orcad, Pspice or Multisim
  • Experience with automotive electronics
  • Experience with motor control applications
  • Demonstrate ability to systematically solve problems – quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
  • +7 years of experience with circuit design and worst-case circuit analysis / simulation
