POSITION: Global Commodity Manager
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Description:
The Global Commodity Manager is an individual who is extremely strategic and forward thinking. An GCM is a subject matter expert, leads supplier relationship management (SRM) between Nexteer and its Global suppliers, and monitors market trends and strategy in region to achieve required commercial position. The GCM will possess a demonstrated competence in negotiation, implementation of commodity strategies, cost savings, quality improvement, supplier assessments, and work with engineering matched pairs on design-to-cost for Nexteer’s future generation of products.
Main Responsibilities
- Establish a cross-business / functional commodity team for responsible for mechanical commodities
- Lead current production cost reduction & new program component strategy globally for the commodities, ensure cost modeling is enabling collaborative cost reduction and early supplier selection.
- Work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders to seek input, common ground, and trust to maximize overall Nexteer impact.
- Develop and execute Global and aligned regional strategies and plans to leverage Nexteer’s spend and optimize total supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery and technology).
- Lead, manage and execute all data collection, validation, analysis, and negotiation activities for the commodities & consistently improve quality, cost and service.
- Management of global strategic supplier contracts & align on any changes. Manage overall relationship for Global strategic suppliers.
- Communicate commodity agreements and strategies to the business globally. Align and leverage regional strategies to other regions as appropriate based on lessons learned.
- Communicate progress periodically to senior level managers within and outside the company on a quarterly basis.
- Structure on-going supplier assessment and performance review meetings (Quality, Cost, Service), monitor effectiveness of strategy, and make changes where appropriate.
- Benchmark procurement processes and, in conjunction with the global team, develop & implement best practices.
- Operate in a professional manner with the highest personal integrity.
- Align on sourcing decisions relative to global impact.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business-related or technical area. Candidates without a degree and 10+ years of relevant experience may be considered, as well.
- Candidate must have 5+ years automotive purchasing experience managing the responsible commodities.
- Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills and assessing suppliers.
- Coordination, facilitation, consultation and conflict resolution skills required.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated competence in developing & implementing commodity strategies
