Sr. Director, Strategic Card PartnershipsThis is an exciting time for Capital One Card Partnerships, as we look to continue aggressively expanding our business in the partner credit card segment. This growth will come not only through organic growth in existing programs, but also through acquisitions of new card partners, the focus of this role. The ideal candidate will influence Capital One’s business development strategy for new partnerships, and lead the translation of that strategy into successful identification and recruitment of future partners.
In this Sr. Director, Strategic Card Partnerships role, you will help drive efforts for Capital One’s new partner acquisition strategy, including identification of target businesses, as well as developing the targeted approach and ultimately the successful acquisition of the partnership programs that we pursue.
You will work with a cross functional team to:
Identify and evaluate potential partner companies and brands
Successfully compete in the market to win new partnership card programs through the creation of tailored pitch strategies, including:
Customer research and development of insights
Developing a point of view around the consumer value proposition
Demonstrating how Capital One will help invent (or reinvent) the target partner's credit card program
Collaborating on partner economic offers
Recommending an approach to customer lifecycle including migrating current cardholders to Capital One, acquiring and growing with new cardholders and maximizing the relationship throughout the lifecycle.
Crafting program positioning and omni channel marketing plans
Transition newly-won business from the business-development team to our vertical business units
Responsibilities:
New partnership card program strategy, including industry benchmarking
Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external consultants and potential partners
Manage initial contact with potential partners, research specific partner and customer needs, and incorporate into partnership pitches
Drive the RFP process for new partners across the organization
Drive the economic, deal and contract negotiations with potential partners
Competencies:
Proven ability to identify opportunities and deliver effective strategies to generate results
Strong analytical, project management, presentation, marketing and creative skills
Proven ability to negotiate and influence senior level decision makers
Experienced in strategic marketing planning and product development
Ability to make strategically bold decisions in a disciplined, fact-based manner
Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate intellectual rigor
Organizational skills and effective time management to succeed in a competitive and dynamic environment
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 7 years experience in consulting OR at least 7 years experience in financial services client development OR at least 7 years experience in financial services partnership management
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
3+ years People Management experience
3+ years of credit card experience
10+ years experience in consulting
10+ years experience in financial services client development
10+ years experience in financial services partnership management
