We are looking for a Platform Engineer that will work with talented software engineering and support teams to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.
Commercial Tech is a unique department within Capital One; we’re situated within the Tech Line of Business and work closely with the Commercial Bank to build and maintain the digital platforms that our customers need. Capital One’s Commercial Bank is a top 10 U.S. bank, providing services to clients with annual revenue above $10 million. The Commercial Bank services a $85 billion loan portfolio by cultivating close relationships with more than 6,100 business clients to generate more than $3 billion in annual revenue.
In Commercial Tech, we work in a fast-paced, collaborative, iterative environment to deliver software for the Commercial Bank. We have a fun, startup culture and a flexible work environment. We’re working hard to reuse, modernize, and simplify our Tech Stack while protecting our clients and building cloud-based applications that work seamlessly together.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
Thrive in a rapidly evolving environment and adapt to frequent transitions in technologies and teams
Partner with product owners to refine requirements and groom Agile stories
Generate innovative ideas, develop proof-of-concepts, and rapid prototypes alongside other engineers
Leverage deep trading systems and Capital Markets expertise to lead Line of Business priorities into production environments and manage ongoing on-call production support after go-live
Serving as a trusted advisor to Capital Markets business stakeholders and working closely with them to define, and execute technology solutions to solve business requirements and problems.
Coordinating with multiple vendors, internal technical teams and customers, on integrating diverse technologies.
Implement and document scalable, highly available, and resilient Capital Markets solutions based on distributed architecture principles
Leverage deep application and platform expertise to lead the planning and deployment of Cloud solutions into production environments and manage ongoing on-call production support and go-live
Design and develop automation workflows, performing unit tests and conducting reviews to make sure your work is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for platform performance, and assessing the overall quality of delivered components

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
At least 6 years of experience with SQL, Python, Shell Scripting
At least 1 year of experience in an Agile environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
4+ years of experience in 3rd party Vendor trading systems support and management
8+ years of experience in Capital Markets software development in areas of FX and Commodity derivatives
8+ years of experience with supporting traders and marketers
8+ years of experience in Trading systems design and development
2+ years of experience working in Agile environment utilizing Continuous Integration & Delivery Pipelines
7+ years of experience working with SQL databases
1+ years of experience working with Workday and Salesforce Platform integrations
