What to Expect

Courier Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Act a liaison between LabCorp, the customer base and patients
  • Picking up and delivering samples to clients and hospitals on foot
  • Load all necessary suppliers needed for the daily pickups
  • Complete daily pick up schedule in a timely manner
  • Deliver all daily picks to your branch throughout of your shift
  • Handle all specimens and lab samples in safe and efficient manner

Specimen Processer Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing
  • Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing
  • Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted
  • Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes
  • Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste
  • Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures
  • Resolve routine customer requests with products or services via inbound, outbound calls, or the Internet
  • Speak with customers in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner using protocol procedures
  • Inquire, clarify, and confirm customer requirements and understanding of the solution
  • Provide additional customer education and information as needed
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies
  • Perform administrative support for medical record management and internal records

Schedule

Per Diem- hours will vary during 3rd shift

Education / Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous driver/courier experience is preferred
  • Previous medical or production experience is preferred
  • Prior healthcare industry, such as a physician's office or a hospital is a plus
  • Customer service experience is plus
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time
  • Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight
  • Proficient computer and typing skills; experience with a LIS is a plus, Proficient in MS Office
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Must be courteous with strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve
  • Must pass standardized color vision test
  • Very punctual and strong time management skills
  • Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned
  • Work in a high volume, high productivity environment
  • Ability to reach and maintain productivity levels
  • Couriers must be 21 years of age, reliable transportation, and clean driving record if applicable
