Your Role

Elida Beauty is creating a new independent business with a stand alone technology stack. The role of the Data Manager is a newly created opportunity to establish and lead an Elida Beauty Data Management Team to support the new organsiation.

The role will report to the iOps Strategy Manager – Supply Chain, with a global remit to support all of Elida Beauty’s functions. You will provide expertise in both data management, data governance, information provision and data quality management. You will establish yourself as the master data expert for the business, to ensure it is controlled and can be utilized efficiently and effectively. You will be an advocate for the importance of data and data governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead & manage the Elida Beauty (EB) Data Team and develop the teams capabilities to meet the needs of the business. The final design of the EB data team will be a combination of direct reports, outsourced service providers and influencing others who perform data tasks as part of their wider role.

• Act as an advocate of Data Quality and play the role of coach, to increase the knowledge and understanding of data flows in the business and the importance of data quality to drive business value & avoid the cost & business disruption from the existence of erroneous data;

• Implement & maintain Elida Beauty’s Data Governance framework:-chairing Data Governance Meetings; ensuring that required actions to maintain and improve both data quality & information availability are clear and issues are addressed; definition of Data Quality metrics & reporting (Data Quality Dashboards); to support the racking of Data Quality across the business

• Act as the custodian of Elida Beauty’s Data Architecture for Elida Beauty’s Enterprise Architecture (EB EA). This will include maintenance of appropriate documentation (eg. data glossaries, data catalogues, data process flows, etc.) and service level agreements (eg. compliance with data standards, etc.) with Data Object Owners (Business Process Owners) and Data Field Owners (Data Stewards) to ensure roles and responsibilities for data management and quality are clear and that the evolving business needs are met;

• Work closely with both the IT and business teams to conduct an appropriate impact assessment on both the introduction of new Data Objects/ fields into the current EB EA and the proposed implementation of any new IT systems;

• Build appropriate communities and working relationships with EB’s “super user communities” and “reporting experts” to continually improve the efficiency & effectiveness of business operations;

• Represent EB as the company’s Data Expert, with regard to interactions with external parties (including Unilever);

• Work closely with EB’s Information Security Officer and EB’s Data Protection Officer to implement agreed data management practices within the business.

Key requirements:

• Act like a “refounder” - taking accountability to make things happen – both independently and as part of a team;

• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to develop clear requirement specifications and promote the value of the Data Quality initiatives;

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive engaging stakeholder management and applied Governance;

  • Strong knowledge of working in a digital and cloud environment;

  • Passion for high performance and relentless improvement;

• Able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience you should have

• Significant experience working within Data Management, Data Quality and/or Data Governance in which you have gained an excellent understanding of how to develop, embed and lead a company-wide data government framework and measure, review and optimise the success of that governance framework;

• Experience performing Data Governance audits and gathering requirements, followed up with creation and implementation of associated actions identified with a focus on tracking the success of the framework to constantly improve data quality at Elida Beauty;

  • Strong understanding of relevant statutory frameworks applying to data governance (i.e. Data Protection Act);

  • Experience with best in class technology which support the effective implementation of a data governance practice (Oracle Cloud a bonus);

  • Robust understanding of data management practices (including information lifecycle management, MDM and data modelling);

  • Relevant experience in Supply Chain, Customer or Finance would be preferable;

  • Experienced in leading teams;

  • Experience in FMCG/CP.
