You’ll be joining a business that is expanding, cares about the community and the environment. The Public Fixed Income (“PFI”) investment team within MIM manages over $300 billion of AUM (as of December 31, 2022) across various mandates, including Investment Grade, High Yield, Leveraged Loans and Emerging Markets. The team operates globally with bases in London, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Hong Kong and Santiago, Chile.

Role Value Proposition:

Experienced credit analyst (Associate Director level) to cover a portfolio of EMEA Technology, Media and Telecom (“TMT”) names across non-financial Investment Grade, High Yield, Leveraged Loans and Emerging Market asset classes.

The successful candidate will join MetLife Investment Management Ltd (MIML) UK’s London-based PFI team, which supports the continuing growth of the team’s EMEA assets, U.S. General Account Insurance Business, assets for other MetLife Affiliated Insurance Companies and Unaffiliated/Third-Party assets managed by MIM/MIML. The Associate Director / credit analyst will report into the US-based Global TMT Sector Team Lead with day-to-day oversight and coaching from the London-based Regional Lead.

Associate Director / credit analyst Key Responsibilities:

Conduct fundamental credit research and relative value analysis, including:

  • Financial modelling and analysis
  • Quarterly and annual earnings analysis and review
  • News and events analysis and review
  • Comp sheet construction, price monitoring and relative value analysis
  • Valuation work and analysis
  • ESG profile and risks

Communication with companies and other sources of information, including:

  • On-site visits and 1x1 meetings with corporate management teams
  • Communication and relationship building with rating agencies and sell-side research analysts
  • Communication with industry experts and other resources

Making clear and actionable investment recommendations across all strategies, helping to manage risk:

  • Communicate with portfolio managers, traders and other research analysts (across various geographic regions and sectors) to manage portfolio positions
  • Generate and present new investment ideas
  • Actively participate in group investment discussions

Client Interaction

  • Participate in new client prospecting and due diligence meetings
  • Participate in existing client due diligence and update meetings
  • Engage with clients with regards to information needs, reporting requirements and direct access requests

All associates:

  • Ensure effective risk management is considered in all day-to-day activities, in accordance with ME risk policies, and escalate any areas of concern to line manager and where appropriate Risk Management function.

Associate Director / credit analyst Essential Business Experience

Required:

  • 5+ years of credit research experience in non-financial (corporate) public fixed income markets

Preferred:

  • Previous coverage experience of Technology, Media and Telecom names preferrable, but not essential

Associate Director / credit analyst Essential Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Outstanding skills in conducting in-depth fundamental credit research including financial modelling and relative value analysis
  • Exceptional communication/presentation skills with a strong command of the English language (verbal and written skills).
  • Self-motivated, well-organised and entrepreneurial, with a strong team player mindset
  • Ability to prioritise demands for time and undertake industry research with minimal direction
  • Solid knowledge of capital markets, public debt instruments, and bond documentation
  • Strong academic track record ideally with CFA, Accountancy, or MBA qualifications

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in another main European language is an advantage but not essential
