At Reality Labs, we aim to bring together the brightest cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, [Register to View] a Thermal Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing Systems for VR, AR, or New Technology Initiatives. You will become part of a team exploring concepts through prototyping and into mass-production consumer electronics. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration and curiosity in domains inside and outside thermal engineering.Our ideal candidate has strong thermal engineering fundamentals, thermal tool fluency, manufacturing process knowledge, and experience thermally modeling, analyzing, and launching consumer electronics.

Required Skills

Thermal Engineer, Reality Labs Responsibilities:

  • Drive novel thermal technology roadmaps with cross-functional teams such as mechanical and electrical engineering, systems engineering, operations and software
  • Build thermal models (CFD or FEA) of our HW products in early concept phases and through detailed design
  • Validate thermal models through prototype testing
  • Develop thermal throttling policies with cross-functional partners
  • Balancing product performance via collaboration with cross-functional partners to satisfy various component and product limitations
  • Partner with Hardware and System Engineering to provide feedback and recommendations on how to optimize the thermal design for performance and cost
  • Work with JDM partners to provide feedback on design and prototype performance throughout the build cycle
  • Travel to vendors up to 20%

Minumum Qualification

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience in thermal modeling and analysis
  • Experience using CFD/FEA tools such as FloEFD (or equivalent) to model and analyze thermal performance
  • Working knowledge, and demonstrated experience modeling various consumer electronic systems or sub-systems (Sensors, LCD's, SOC's, etc.)

Preferred Qualification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience developing thermal solutions with a wide variety of components and materials such as aerogels, thin film heat spreaders, phase change materials, and other compliant materials
  • High volume consumer product experience
