HJF is seeking a Database Developer I or II to support the Gynecologic Cancer Center of Excellence (GynCoe), located in Annandale, VA. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to GynCoe.

The incumbent will develop, test and maintain database software and related support systems. Develop and support management of clinical, laboratory workflow and bioinformatic data in a relational database environment. Modify existing and create new databases for the specific needs of the research program. Assist in the development and maintenance of various data portals and websites enabling data entry and editing capabilities in a relational database environment. Work with subject matter experts including the bioinformatics and IT teams to integrate existing data streams into a relational database environment.

NOTE: As a U.S. Government contractor, all HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 18, 2022. Proof of vaccination or an approved religious or medical accommodation will be required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains standard database providing updates queries, and development of database. (50%)
  2. Integrates with systems and software. (25%)
  3. Provides system support. (25%)
  4. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Experience with relational database design, implementation and management required. Working knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL.
  2. Experience with web development desired but not required.
  3. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio, R, PHP, Python desired.
  4. Experience administering and supporting Windows based systems required, experience with UNIX or Linux based operating systems desired.
  5. Experience with clinical and laboratory science data and terminology desired but not required.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements:

  • Level I: Minimum 0-2 years of experience required.
  • Level II: Minimum 3-5 years of experience required.

Work Environment: This job takes place in a typical office setting and has some telework capabilities.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid. May consider 100% remote.
