Systems Engineering Co-Op - Navigation & Sensor Systems (Onsite)
Job Description BAE Systems is looking for a Systems Engineering Student with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for industry-leading Global Positioning Systems (GPS) products. Our team seeks engineers interested in designing, developing, and testing GPS receivers for military airborne and ground applications. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of GPS technology and receiver architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team environment to develop our Modernized GPS receiver products.
As a part of this team, you will have responsibilities spanning all phases of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements capture and analysis, design, test development, integration, verification, and documentation. Assignments may include tasks such as developing and updating requirements and design documentation for new or existing features, developing and updating test scripts and procedures, testing on GPS simulators, working with other areas of engineering to troubleshoot and debug, providing customer support, and mentoring other engineers.
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Applicants must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) degree.
- Scheduled to graduate college as part of the Class of 2024
- High motivation to solve problems and continuously improve existing products
- Desire to contribute to a results oriented product development team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse team
- A genuine desire to learn and innovate
- US Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance required.
Active DOD Secret Clearance or higher is preferred but not required
Experience with requirements software like IBM DOORS
Coursework in systems engineering
Examples of technical writing proficiency
Proactive person with a positive attitude and a “team player” mentality
Strong communication skills
Experience with modern software languages (e.g. Java, C, C++, C#, Python, perl, etc.)
Familiarity with Engineering Development tools like DOORS, Matlab, Simulink, Enterprise Architect, etc.
