Principal Technical Writer

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced principal technical writer to support the Air and Space Force Solutions, Strategic Systems, Information Services (IS) team. The selected applicant will join a dynamic training and documentation team as we seek to deliver world-class capabilities to our client and associated contractors while helping to drive productivity and innovation. The position requires the ability to write technical documentation of limited scope and complexity, engage in problem solving discussions with cross-functional team members, provide guidance to cross-functional team members, and ensure documents are produced on time. Other requirements include the ability to concentrate, attention to detail, and command of the English language. You will also:

• Write/edit a variety of technical documentation to include, work instructions, policies, processes, knowledgebase articles, reports and more
• Develop instructional materials, including PowerPoint, video, and computer-based training presentations
• Work with subject matter experts to research and complete project deliverables in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly
• Provide technical assistance, training, and system documentation for users to promote efficient operation of applications
• Perform other duties as assigned

The applicant must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related degree plus 8 years of business experience, or 6 years of experience with a Masters Degree.

Experience with MS Office Tools/Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Previous writing experience
Customer interaction/customer service skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Previous work in a defense contractor setting; proven technical writer experience; familiarity or experience with Jira software and Confluence; training development experience.

Active security clearance preferred
