The Leidos Defense Group currently has an opening for a Design and Fabrication Technician to work with our team in Natick, MA. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your talents and expertise to support our US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Solider Center (CCDC-SC) mission.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in design, development, and fabrication of parachute and/or shelter components.
Develop preliminary layouts, execute design details, and fabricate prototypes. Draw upon knowledge of construction techniques, production methods, materials availability, and design practice. Consider loads, tensile strengths, finishes, sizes, weights, and other design aspects. Consult with design draftsmen to explain design and fabrication details.
Repair and/or modify airdrop and shelter fielded equipment by basting of new pieces of materials and making very fine and precise seams to attain strength equivalent to that in original assembly; remove stitches, damaged panels and/or lines, and sew in replacement parts.
Support project officers by fabricating experimental and prototype parachutes and related airdrop items such as personnel parachutes, cargo delivery, as well as shelters, tents, covers and other soft wall structures (on the job training)
Interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and verbal ideas presented by project engineers.
Basic Qualifications:
Demonstrated abilities utilizing an industrial sewing machine.
HS Diploma with five or more years of relevant experience
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabricate a final product efficiently
Demonstrated ability of collaboration, excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple actions at any given time
Excellent analytical and technical skills
Ability to work independently as well as with others in a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience of personal parachute systems and assembly (Civilian and/or Military)
Ability to follow technical manual procedures
CAD and/or Solidworks skills
Pay Range:
Pay Range $63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
