Ground Support Mechanic lead Inspector (525th EMIB)
Overview
The Ground Support Equipment Lead Inspector(GSELI) Mechanic is responsible of the day-to-day maintenance activities, the diagnostics, inspections and repairs for military equipment, wheeled, power generation and ground support equipment. Works along with team members and sets the pace.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
- GSE Lead Inspector will direct the work of other mechanics and provide support to maintenance team to ensure satisfactory levels of customer service are maintained for internal and external customers.
- Responsible for the Field and Sustainment-level maintenance services and repairs.
- Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled and ground support equipment (commercial and Military) to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
- Uses automated Logistics Information System to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains wheeled and grounding systems.
- Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.
- Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
- Operates, cleans, inspects, and services wheeled and ground support equipment for maintenance purposes.
- Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
- Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers to name a few.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
- Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- Should have six (6) years' of leadership experience within medium-sized military support organizations in the areas of maintenance, plus a comprehensive knowledge of supply and services
- At least three (3) to six (6) years' of experience in wheeled and Ground support equipment maintenance or an equivalent.
- Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
- Must be U.S. Citizen.
- Must successfully pass a NACI background investigation.
- Must have or able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
SKILLS:
- Extensive use of basic shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and lifting devices.
- Steel Toe shoes are required.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted. Such PPE includes, but is not limited to: Face mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices.
- Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).
- Knowledge and experience with Logistic Information System, such as Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army), Logistic Information Warehouse (LIW), and Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS)/FEDLOG.
- Organizational, analytical, written, and oral communication skills, possessing basic proficiency in English language (reading & writing).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and SharePoint is required.
- Able to react to change productively and handle essential tasks as assigned.
Supervisory/Budget Responsibilities:
- Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.
- No budget responsibilities
- Ensure team has clear understanding of the Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures
- Shall fill in when Supervisor is out
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENT:
- To be qualified for this position you must comply with the government customer’s requirement that you either provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, or agree to undergo and provide results of weekly COVID-19 testing.
- As of now, to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 you must have received either two doses of Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine, two doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford Vaccine, two doses of Moderna Vaccine, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, and two weeks must have elapsed after the final dose was administered.
