The Leidos DES (Defense Enclave Services) team is supporting an extensive digital modernization program critical to DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies and currently has an opening for a Network Installation Technician located at Ft. Meade, MD and will require travel.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Defense Enclave Services contract will unify the DOD Fourth Estate Defense Agencies and Field Activities’ common use information technology systems, personnel, functions and program elements under the direction of DISA’s Fourth Estate Network Optimization program office.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
•Must hold an active Top Secret security clearance and be able to obtain a TS/SCI. (US Citizenship required)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Manage installations and repairs for network systems.
•OCONUS and CONUS travel for DOD to perform site surveys of computer networks and cable plant.
•Respond to maintenance requests regarding system defects and other issues, troubleshooting problems with network systems by running tests and maintaining inventory for network hardware.
•Provide technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
•Schedule upgrades and maintenance without interrupting business workflow.
•Design, build, and implement network systems.
•Direct compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance.
•Troubleshoot network performance issues.
•Analyze network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions.
•Monitor and reply to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems.
•Interface with vendor service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
•Manages the purchase, testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems.
•Create maintenance tickets.
•Comprehend, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures.
•Install and maintain network devices at the site.
•Perform necessary upgrades to the network infrastructure as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
•Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting Local Area Networks/Base Area Networks/Wide Area Networks (LAN/BAN/WAN).
•Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies.
•Hands-on experience with common software and hardware.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•BICSI certification.
•Sec+ certification.
