Laboratory Technician
Description
Leidos Defense Group is seeking a Laboratory Technician to assist the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command-Chemical Biological Center- Protection and Decontamination Division (DEVCOM CBC) team. This role will assist in basic and applied research efforts for the development, test, and evaluation of novel military specific chemical and biological products. Located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Edgewood Area, the Laboratory Technician will support researchers in development, test and evaluation of novel materials, equipment, and method applications for chemical and biological decontamination products and projects. Specific support efforts include basic laboratory functions to include, but not limited to, wet chemistry studies, chemical inventory, supply management, turn-in of old chemicals, and satellite accumulation site hazardous waste management activities and documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Function as a team member with other engineers, chemists, and scientists in performing projects directed by Principal Investigator
Transfer, remove, order, and enter chemicals into content manager database.
Perform free chlorine analysis and decontamination bleach certifications.
Maintain and store chemicals in accordance with policies and procedures.
Perform duties in compliance with chemical hygiene plan (CHP)
Contributes to generating various scientific technical information (STI)
Performs other duties assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma with 2 or more years of relevant experience.
US Citizen: Currently possessing or ability to successfully obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance upon hire.
Experience in performing titration analyses, gravimetric, and volumetric analyses
Demonstrated experience in managing chemical inventory
Demonstrated knowledge in analyzing and reporting analytical data
Effective communication and writing skills
A self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision.
Ability to wear laboratory personal protective equipment
Ability to enter the U.S. Army Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (C-PRP)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in working with chemical warfare agents, simulants, toxic industrial materials, and/or toxic industrial chemicals
Previous experience in managing hazard waste satellite accumulation sites and hazardous waste documentation, labeling, and turn-in.
Previous Department of Defense research project support.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $44,200.00 - $68,000.00 - $91,800.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
