Description

Leidos Intelligence Group is looking for a Localization Engineer (LE), with Chinese language experience, who will work with human language technology (HLT) to increase the speed, accuracy, and consistency of text translation and transcription of text. This position will be in Northern Virginia and requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph to be considered.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain translation and transcription workflows that incorporate optical character recognition (OCR), computer-assisted translation (CAT), post-edited machine-translation, and speech-to-text.

  • Validate new features within computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, translation memories (TM) servers, and HLT tools. Manage the collection, classification, and updating of TMs.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of restricted cloud environments for HLT tool deployment.

  • Write scripts and/or macros in various programming languages to automate repetitive tasks, to include file analysis, parsing, and filtering.

  • Prepare file types for the localization process, including coding and script writing, ensuring compliance with data integrity requirements.

  • Identify commercial tools for localization potential, including the identification of key issues to be considered during the localization process.

  • Assist in troubleshooting foreign language content issues related to triage, translation, transcription, interpretation, and localization.

  • Develop new features and improvements of customer software products. Provide test cases for quality assurance as well as report and test fixes for bugs found by end users.

  • Work closely with system administrators and information technology (IT) staff, as required, to develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize translation workflows.

  • Incorporate pre-translation, auto-translation, and pseudo-translation into translation workflows.

  • Assist with scripting and development of advanced workflows including document/audio triage, speech-to-text, and multilingual data management.

  • Help train linguists to leverage HLT via one-on-one instruction and development of instructional documentation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a BA degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • Achieve a minimum score of an Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) 2+ (out of 5) in Mandarin.

  • Certified AWS Cloud Engineer

  • Demonstrated experience in the human language technology (HLT) arena within the last 2 years.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and grasp new concepts quickly.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to others who may be less technical and promoting the use of computer assisted translation (CAT) and other HLTs tools across the enterprise.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with poly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity or willingness to learn the following:

- Adobe Acrobat and pdf files

- Terminology management and terminology management tools

- HTML, XML, ASP, AND JSP

  • Demonstrated prior experience as a translator using computer-assisted translation tools.

  • Evidence of recent continuing professional education in computer-assisted translation, post-editing of machine translation, website/game/software translation and localization, localization engineering, and/or terminology management (completion of short or online courses in acceptable).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $84,500.00 - $130,000.00 - $175,500.00
