Summary of Job Duties:Employee will be responsible for the day to day activities in field plot research with responsibilities in corn, grain sorghum, rice, soybean and wheat. Duties will include, but not limited to, land preparation, planting, irrigation, pest (weeds, disease and insect) control, harvesting as well as data collection and record summarization on all activities in field plot research.

Specifically, collection of information and data from research crops as desired by the director or project leaders. Harvest research crops , process yield samples, and report harvest data and production notes to the appropriate project leaders. Supervise and assist station staff in the maintenance and repair of all research equipment and facilities. Take soil samples and keep fertility records up to date. Monitor the needs and condition of research crops and keep the station director informed and apply the proper management practices. Assist station director in supervising the production of foundation seed and other crops grown on the Pine Tree Station. Assist with all the activities of the research station including field days, tours, reports and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree from accredited college or university with emphasis in agricultural sciences or related field. The employee must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying the minimum weight of 75 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with field crop production and farm machinery is highly desirable as well as experience in field plot research management. Preference will be given to applicants with a Drone license or the desire to obtain one.
