Summary of Job Duties:

The position serves as a Lead Programmer Analyst for the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA). The position’s primary role is to support the efforts of the university through the UA Little Rock Office of Institutional Research and Analytics by facilitating the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data and the provision of correct, complete, and current information necessary to support planning, decision making, and regulatory reporting at UA Little Rock. This is a lead technical role and requires mastery of structured query language (SQL) and the ability to manage multiple complex data requests. Preference is given to candidates with experience in Microsoft SQL Server development technologies and Tableau visualization software.

The Lead Programmer Analyst is responsible for serving as a technical lead for the development of analytics, dashboards, reports, and related data projects necessary to carry out the mission of the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

  • A Bachelor’s degree;
  • Five years of experience with similar duties may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of programs and reports using SQL, object-oriented programming languages, and business intelligence software;
  • Prepare and update status reports, system documentation, and manuals;
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, interpret findings, and solve problems related to institutional research
  • Manage the office’s source control repository;
  • Determine sources of data and proper methods of collection;
  • Create and submit data files to administrative and regulatory authorities;
  • Select, extract, and prepare data for statistical analysis;
  • Advise and assist faculty, administrators, and staff in data collection methods, data sources, and statistical analysis;
  • Create business intelligence dashboards and reports;
  • Create, update, and maintain web pages on the OIRA and related websites;
  • Assist with tasks related to data governance, data quality, and data warehousing;
  • Support the Preliminary Enrollment Report which resides in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS);
  • Support and develop various reporting solutions that have been created in SSRS;
  • Act as a back-up for Tableau support and development;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Mastery of SQL;
  • Experience with higher education data;
  • Knowledge of data science and information quality principles and tools;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.


Salary Information:

$65,000 - $70,000
