Summary of Job Duties:The post-doctoral fellow will develop primary, secondary, and tertiary models of pathogenic microorganisms as a function of organic acids, salts, bacteriocins, temperature, water activity, salt, moisture, nitrite, and other parameters. This is an industry-funded project and the candidate should have good communication skills to frequently interact with the sponsor, develop detailed progress reports, and hold proprietary information confidential. The candidate should be able to interact with an interdisciplinary team of microbiologists, statisticians, and process engineers to develop predictive and process models. Proficiency in statistical and process modeling software packages is required to execute the project successfully. The candidate will conduct a thorough literature search for available data and identify data needs. Models will be validated by independent microbial datasets by working with graduate students.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in food engineering, agricultural engineering, food science, or a closely related field. Strong analytical ability and experience in predictive or process models are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to be successful in this position
